Tamara Leigh’s Lady of Eve is a clean rewrite of her earlier Bantam Books release Virgin Bride. It is the sequel of Lady at Arms, which is a personal fav. Both these Medieval romances sweep you away into a time of knights and ladies, chivalry and honor, swords and daggers.This is a wonderful book with what I found to be a perfect blend of plot and character interaction. Since a key part of the premise is tied to lost virtue, I wondered how it would be done in a way that allowed the reader to understand the heroine’s intentional decision to go against her beliefs. Not only did I understand her decision but also her regrets; it set up the rest of the story perfectly.
Due to how the relationship begins, it feels like there’s a greater focus on physical attraction than I typically find in books I read. All of it is clean, but it is pervasive. So if you prefer the typical 1-3 kisses found in Christian fiction, this would be too much for you. Personally having struggled in this area myself as a believer, I found Graeye’s inner turmoil very believable. In other words, given the theme of the plot, the focus on the physical made sense and was well-handled from the perspective that you always knew temptation was just that: temptation.
A surprise favorite character was Groan, the dog. I loved the way he was woven into the story! Of course having had two Rottweilers, I’m a sucker for a big, protective, possessive canines.
Though this is a sequel, it does stand alone. You will have a fuller reading experience if you have read Lady at Arms, but it is not necessary. Though since Lady at Arms is such a great read why wouldn’t you want to treat yourself to that one first? Both of these books are a treat, I’m so excited (though not surprised) that Lady of Eve more than lived up to my expectations for a book from Tamara Leigh. I’ve got a new fav!

There are a lot of reviews written about this book so I won't go over the storyline that has been described again and again. The author has done an amazing job reworking this book into a clean read. Anyone who has read Tamara Leigh's books knows of her ability to paint with words so I speak to those who are unfamiliar. You'll find carefully researched details that stay true to life, customs, language, and history of the time period. Vivid details play in your mind as you see, hear, smell and experience the scenes. The characters are perfectly flawed and you can't help but cringe at their unwise decisions and consequences. But that element is countered when you sigh in satisfaction as love blooms amidst great odds and much forgiveness. The antagonists are truly evil. There is a non preaching Christian thread that is a natural and essential element to the storyline. The editing is well done although you will find a few word errors. Although there is a story that comes before this one, it is not necessary to have read it in order to fully enjoy this one. The story is complete with a satisfying ending. I didn't read this one for a long time because of some negative reviews I had read. It was my loss (now gain). This is a good book. It's a well written and compelling story. I recommend it.
This story will grab hold and propel you swiftly through its pages until you reach the end! And even then you are still not prepared to say farewell. The characters and plot are well written, and delightfully so. Lady Of Eve is the sequel to Lady At Arms, both are "clean read" rewrites of Leigh's former novels Warrior Bride & Virgin Bride.
I am a big fan of Leigh's Inspirational fiction and found her "clean read" rewritten novel, Lady At Arms to be wonderful as well. She has left me eager to read more of her work! While this is a "clean read" romance novel, the premise of this novel differs in that the couple are intimate at the beginning of the novel. Though this happens there are no intimate details given. The main characters then struggle through parts of the novel with their feelings and the temptation each presents to the other. This novel does contain kissing but it is not overly done and is clean as well. So for some this may or may not be an issue. I found that Leigh wrote the characters, their emotions, desires, sin struggle and more, not only well but very believably! Graeye had the heart, strength and desire to live rightly before God. She recognized her sin, she battled with it before God and sought forgiveness but even more she received and lived out grace.
All the way around a great "clean read" romance and one not to be missed! My only regret is I now have to await Leigh's next release! Hurry please =)
